UC1: Mobile CRM deployed on PocketPC PDA using Open Mobile IS by e-Care

AbstractThe application is a mobile CRM deployed on PocketPC PDA for the group Nebopan. Nebopan is group of compagnies that sell manufactured wood. The application provide all the necessary functionalities needed the commercial people :
  • client management
  • product managment with client prices
  • order management
  • commercial activity managment
All the data are synchronized to the PDA from each companies information system.
DetailsData are provided by each companies ERP. Synchronisation can be done by connecting the PDA to a PC (indirect synchronisation) or via a GPRS connection. The mobile CRM is in production in 5 companies and used by 40 commercials.

Why is this use case a success?
The main reason of the success is the Open Mobile IS framework approch to answer mobile application problems. The project provide solution that has been tested and validated for :
  • application ergonomy. The application must be simple and esealy understood by the final user.
  • synchronisation : the object modele synchronisation strategy is more powerfull than the classic database replication. Some of the application functionalities can't be done with simple data replication.
  • openess : we were able to connect the same mobile application to several ERP (data source) and several PDA models.
