| Abstract | viaContext is a completely web-based knowledge-management and information-management solution which actively involves the user by providing custom views on the content. Documents and content from existing archives can be combined with personal content and comments. Knowledge and valuable information, regardless whether published internally or for the general public, can be explored cooperatively. Digital archives turn from unnecessarily complex into systematically structured information pools.More information under http://www.viacontext.com |
| Details | The metadata attached to the documents managed with viaContext is stored in XML based on the Dublin Core standard, a widely adapted standard for document management. For the presentation of the metadata in the user-interface, XSLT-stylesheets are used.More information under http://www.viacontext.com |

| Why is this use case a success? |
|---|
| Enhydra Server helped us cutting down development time and cost compared to the JSP approach. One major advantage of Enhydra, resp. XMLC is the clean separation of content and code, but the representation of the generated web page as XML DOM tree object has additional advantages: the modularization of pages is supported with simple standard mechanisms available from standard XML libraries (e.g. Xerces, Document.importNode()). Particularly the presentation of XML based information perfectly fits into this presentation model. |
